What Is a Certified Master Builder?
Idaho requires contractors to register with the state, but it does not currently require contractors to be licensed.
The Certified Master Builder program was created by the Idaho Home Builders Association to help consumers identify experienced builders who have chosen to meet additional professional standards.
Certified Master Builders are vetted through the program and must demonstrate experience, proper insurance, strong references, sound business practices and a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Why Certification Matters
Build With Greater Confidence
Choosing the right builder is an important decision. The Certified Master Builder designation gives homeowners another way to identify professionals who have demonstrated their experience, reliability and commitment to quality.
Certified Master Builders are recognized for:

- Strong client, subcontractor and supplier references
- Workers’ compensation and liability insurance
- Written contracts for building and remodeling projects
- Written warranties on newly constructed homes
- A clean building record
- Continued commitment to professional standards
