Advocacy

A Voice for North Idaho’s Building Industry

For more than five decades, NIBCA has represented and supported North Idaho’s Building Industry Professionals. Through local, regulatory, legislative, political and legal advocacy, NIBCA works with members, officials and industry partners to address issues affecting construction, housing and community growth.

How NIBCA Advocates

NIBCA works on behalf of the building industry in several important ways, from conversations happening within our local communities to decisions being made through the legislative and regulatory process.

Local Advocacy

Finding Solutions Close to Home

NIBCA brings industry professionals and local government representatives together to identify challenges, discuss solutions and help create an environment where housing and the building industry can continue to thrive.

Regulatory Advocacy

Working With the People Who Interpret the Rules

NIBCA works directly with code officials, inspectors and regulatory staff to address the rules and interpretations affecting the building industry.

Through communication and collaboration, NIBCA encourages practical regulations and consistent code interpretation while supporting safe, high-quality construction throughout North Idaho.

Legislative Advocacy

Representing the Industry in the Lawmaking Process

NIBCA works with elected officials to communicate the needs of the industry and advocate on laws and ordinances that affect Building Industry Professionals and their ability to do business.

Political Advocacy

Supporting Leaders Who Understand Our Industry

Policies at every level of government can have a significant impact on residential construction, remodeling and the businesses that support them.

NIBCA participates in the political process to build productive relationships with officials who understand the value of the building industry and the issues affecting it.

These efforts are nonpartisan and focused on creating productive relationships with elected officials at all levels of government.

Legal Advocacy

Protecting the Interests of Our Members

Legal advocacy can provide an important final line of defense when laws, regulations or enforcement practices unfairly affect business owners and Building Industry Professionals.

While legal action is a last resort, there are circumstances where challenging a law or regulation may be necessary to protect NIBCA members, the building industry and the broader business community.

Advocacy in Action

Keeping the Building Industry Essential

During the COVID-19 pandemic, NIBCA and the National Association of Home Builders worked to ensure the building industry was recognized as essential in North Idaho.

These efforts helped keep projects moving, businesses operating and thousands of people working during an unprecedented time.

National Political Involvement

A Stronger Voice Through NAHB

The National Association of Home Builders represents builders, developers and other Building Industry Professionals across the United States.

NAHB advocates for policies that support the housing and building industries while providing education, training, resources and support to help its members navigate an evolving industry.

Through NIBCA’s connection with NAHB, our members are part of a larger voice working to strengthen the building industry and expand housing opportunities across the country.

NIB-PAC

Supporting the Building Industry’s Voice

The North Idaho Builders Political Action Committee (NIB-PAC) advocates for policies and legislation that support the growth and success of North Idaho’s construction industry.

NIB-PAC represents the interests of builders, contractors, suppliers and other industry stakeholders by supporting candidates and elected officials who understand the building industry and the issues that affect it.

Through political advocacy, NIB-PAC works to help create a favorable business environment and give the industry a stronger voice in the decisions that affect its future.
